Scouts

OK, so I have known about this camp out for this next weekend since Feb, but for some reason I cannot think of any activities in which we can participate when we are camping, other than the usual hiking and night games. I need to try and teach them something. Anyone have any ideas?

  • You should make sure all of them have their toten chips. I'm sure they do, and if they don't make sure they all have their fire cards or whatever they have. I used to do that on my trips with the younger scouts when I was the Patrol Leader, is that what it is, or the Troop Leader? Either way I was in charge and it was cool. Maybe teach them how to light a one match fire, or whatever. How old are these kids? I wish I was a scout leader, maybe I would have to be in a family ward for that to happen. Eric and VD both have good ideas too.

  • I like erics and kr5is ideas, but I still need a couple of more. I have been teaching them orienteering, which is like eric said, and was planning on teaching them how to make a fire, safely. Also to setup the wood chopping area and so on. Any ideas on night games? Some sort of flash light tag?

  • The best night games are Capture the Flag in the dark with Glowsticks as the flag. Or, tall tale camp fire stories. I alwas had fun with that.
